Aaron is inspired by the raw power of Hawaii's volcanoes and the unrelenting force of its ocean. The creation and destruction evidenced in the carved lava rock forms and underwater seascapes influence Aaron's art and architecture.
Aaron attended the Savannah College of Art & Design, where he was awarded Bachelor of Architecture and Master of Architecture degrees, with minors in Electronic Design and Architectural History.
While living in Savannah, GA and the District of Columbia, Aaron's design work focused on adaptive reuse of existing structures, while conforming to strict historic district guidelines. Projects included SCAD's Alexander Hall, SCAD's original conversion of a Day's Inn Restaurant to a college dining experience (since re-designed by others as Cafe at the Hive), conversion of an original department store to a night club with private wine cellar, lingerie boutique retail in-fill, deck addition for a restaurant, and several Parker's Gas Stations.
In 2000, Aaron field-measured and drafted the existing Shipman Home, Ainahou, in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. In 2001, Aaron worked with a colleague to field-measure the existing Freeman Justice Center, Monroe County Courthouse and Old Jail in Key West, Florida.
In 2003, Aaron returned home to Hawaii and pursued a career in island architecture. In 2003 and 2004, Aaron documented existing paniolo (cowboy) cabins and homesteads on Mauna Loa and Mt. Hualalai for the Kona Historical Society. Between 2003 and 2005, Aaron worked at Hart Howerton's Hawaii Office to develop high-end residential projects on Hawai'i and O'ahu Islands (check out some pictures here). From 2005 to 2014, Aaron worked at Rhoady Lee Architecture & Design, developing high-end residential homes on Hawai'i Island and in Seattle, WA, as well as non-profit projects like the Kahilu Theatre and North Hawaii Hospice.
Aaron was awarded Rotarian of the Year for 2013-14, and served as Club President for Rotary Club of North Hawaii in 2016-2017.
Aaron spends his free time with his family, coaching AYSO soccer, and playing indoor and beach volleyball.
